Madison Vaughn, UKirk Ministry Coordinator
Hello y’all! I am Madison, and I am so excited to be your new UKirk Coordinator. I currently live in Carrollton, Georgia where I live with my wife, our pupper Tilly (as pictured), and our cat Nina. Carrollton is about an hour from Atlanta and 2 hours from Birmingham. However, I will be in Birmingham Tuesdays thru Thursdays every week to spend with y’all. A little bit about my background: I went to the University of Alabama and graduated in 2015 then had a gap year in South Carolina at the University of South Carolina’s UKirk. After that, I entered seminary at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and graduated from there in December of 2020 with my two Master’s (Master’s of Divinity and Master’s of Art and Practical Theology). Since graduation, I have been working at a hotel, getting married, and on the hunt for ministry careers. I never would have thought that my first call after seminary would be with a More Light ministry, and I am excited and thankful that it is the case. I am looking forward to meeting y’all in person and for us to do ministry together in Birmingham! Roll Tide!
Grace Daniels, Student Minister
Hi, I’m Grace, a junior studying Psychology at Samford. I’ve lived in Augusta, GA my whole life up till college, but I love exploring Birmingham in my free time. When I’m not busy with school I love to be outside, hang out with kids, and find new restaurants. I’m excited about my role as student minister and to see where the spirit leads UKirk this year!
Rev. Joe Genau, Supervising Pastor
Hello! I’m Rev. Joe Genau and I have served as the Pastor of Edgewood Presbyterian church in Homewood for the past seven years. Prior to being called to Edgewood, I worked as a Chaplain at Children’s of Alabama in downtown Birmingham. I’m originally from New York, love baseball, cooking, and anything in which my natural silliness can emerge. I was part of the group that got UKirk Birmingham off the ground and have served on the Steering Team since its inception. I’m absolutely thrilled to help guide Ukirk in its next season of spirituality, sanctuary, and social justice.
