GraceDanielsGrace Daniels, Student Minister

Hi, I’m Grace, a sophomore studying Psychology at Samford. I’ve lived in Augusta, GA my whole life up till college, but I love exploring Birmingham in my free time. When I’m not busy with school I love to be outside, hang out with kids, and find new restaurants! My favorite quarantine activity has been FaceTiming people near and far, new friends and old. I’m excited about my role as student minister and to see where the spirit leads UKirk in this new season of ’new normals’.

Audrey Smith, Student Ministerheadshot_146

Hi! I’m Audrey Smith, one of UKirk’s Student Ministers this year! I’m a senior at Samford University studying Sociology and Social Entrepreneurship. After graduating, I plan on starting law school in Atlanta. My favorite hobbies include reading a good book, hiking up Birmingham’s mountains, and collecting coffee mugs and weird socks. I am both a cat and a dog person, despite the social pressure to choose only one. I am looking forward to the exciting year we have ahead of us and connecting with new and returning UKirk Students!

Emily Frandsen, Ministry Coordinator

Hey! I’m Emily and I’m in my final year at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary distance program and will graduate with a Master of Divinity in May 2021. My husband, Josh, and I live a few blocks from Ruffner Mountain (one of my favorite places in Birmingham) where we love to hike and connect with God in nature. I have lived in two different National Parks where I worked and led outdoor worship for two consecutive summers after I graduated from FSU with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. I’m SO looking forward to partnering with our Student Ministers this year in continuing the ministry of UKirk for the college students in Birmingham. Whether it’s virtually or in person, I can’t wait to meet YOU!

Rev. Joe Genau, Supervising PastorJoeGenau

Hello! I’m Rev. Joe Genau and I have served as the Pastor of Edgewood Presbyterian church in Homewood for the past six years. Prior to being called to Edgewood, I worked as a Chaplain at Children’s of Alabama in downtown Birmingham. I’m originally from New York, love baseball, cooking, and anything in which my natural silliness can emerge. I was part of the group that got UKirk Birmingham off the ground and have served on the Steering Team since its inception. I’m absolutely thrilled to help guide Ukirk in its next season of worship, service, and community.
